**The Stylist (2020) — Theft of the Wedding Dress and Replacement of the Victim**

**Warning: major spoilers for the film’s ending.**

On Olivia’s wedding day, Claire goes to the church to style her hair. Claire appears particularly distressed and eventually breaks down in tears in front of her. Despite the recent tension between them, Olivia tries to comfort Claire and apologizes for having treated her harshly.

The film does not directly show what happens next inside the room. Olivia’s murder, the removal of her wedding dress, and Claire changing into it all take place off-screen.

The ceremony then begins, and a woman wearing Olivia’s wedding dress and veil walks down the aisle. The sequence is deliberately filmed to make the audience believe that she really is the bride. She joins Charlie in front of the guests, and he lifts her veil.

It is then revealed that Claire has taken Olivia’s place. She is wearing Olivia’s wedding dress as well as her scalp and blonde hair, which she is using like a real wig. Blood remains visible along the hairline and on Claire’s forehead. Claire smiles, convinced that she has finally succeeded in becoming Olivia and taking over her life.

The groom and the guests realize with horror what Claire has done. They scream and hurriedly flee the church, presumably to search for Olivia. Claire remains alone at the altar. Her happiness gradually fades when she realizes that wearing Olivia’s dress and hair cannot give her Olivia’s identity, marriage, or the affection of those around her.

The scene therefore constitutes a complete replacement: Claire murders Olivia off-screen, takes her wedding dress, wears her hair, and attempts to impersonate her during the ceremony. However, the film does not show Claire removing Olivia’s dress or putting it on.
